Working Days Calculator

Count working days between two dates. Choose a five day week, a Sunday-only week, or the bank week with the second and fourth Saturday off, and subtract holidays.

Which weekend pattern should I use?

Pick the one your workplace keeps. Most Indian corporate offices run a five day week. Banks close on Sunday and the second and fourth Saturday of every month. Many shops, factories, and government field offices close only on Sunday.

Which Saturdays do banks close?

The second and fourth of each month, which is why the answer changes with the calendar rather than following a fixed fortnight. A month with five Saturdays still has only two closures, and they fall on the dates between the 8th and 14th and between the 22nd and 28th.

Why are public holidays not built in?

Because there is no single Indian holiday list. Central and state holidays differ, gazetted and restricted holidays differ, and most employers publish their own calendar with a set of optional days. A built-in list would be wrong for most readers, so this page asks for a count instead.

Should I include the end date?

Include it for a notice period, a project that runs through its last day, or a leave application. Leave it out when you only want the gap between two dates. The switch is above the result.

How do I count my notice period?

Notice periods in India almost always run on calendar days, not working days, so read the total days figure. Use the working days count to plan handover time, not to work out your last date.

Does this handle leap years?

Yes. It counts real calendar days, so 2024 shows 366 days across the full year while 2023 shows 365. Every weekday check is done on the actual date.
