Date Difference Calculator

Count the days, weeks, months, and years between two dates. See the working days on their own, with Saturdays and Sundays taken out.

Should I include the end date?

It depends on what you are counting. A plain difference between two dates does not include it. A notice period, a hotel stay, or a hospital admission usually does, because the last day counts as a full day. Use the switch to match your case.

Are public holidays taken out of the working days?

No. Only Saturdays and Sundays come out. Indian holidays vary by state and by year, and many offices work some of them. Subtract your own list from the working day count.

Does this handle leap years?

Yes. The maths counts real calendar days, so 2024 correctly shows 366 days across a full year while 2023 shows 365.

Why do the months and the days not match a simple division?

Because months are different lengths. 365 days is not 12 months when the span starts on 1 January and ends on 31 December, it is 11 months and 30 days. Dividing by 30 would give a different, wrong answer.

What can I use this for?

Notice periods, project deadlines, visa stays, interest on a short loan, gaps between two jobs, and how long until a wedding or an exam. Anything that needs an exact day count instead of a rough one.

What if I enter the dates in the wrong order?

Nothing breaks. The calculator swaps them, tells you it did, and returns the same answer. The distance between two dates has no direction.
