Turn your CTC into monthly in-hand salary. Splits basic, HRA, and allowances, then subtracts EPF, professional tax, and income tax under the better of the two regimes.
Why is my in-hand so much less than my CTC?
CTC counts everything the employer spends on you, including their provident fund share and the gratuity they set aside. Neither reaches your account this month. Then your own EPF, professional tax, and income tax come out of what is left. The gap of 20% to 30% is normal.
What basic percentage should I use?
Check your offer letter. Most Indian employers set basic pay between 35% and 50% of CTC. A higher basic raises your provident fund and gratuity, which is good for long-term savings and lowers your in-hand pay today.
Which tax regime does this use?
Both, then it keeps the cheaper one. You can force a regime if your employer has already locked yours in. The new regime usually wins unless you claim a large HRA exemption, a home loan interest deduction, or a full 80C.
Is professional tax the same everywhere?
No. Professional tax is a state levy, so the slab depends on where you work. Article 276(2) of the Constitution caps it at ₹2,500 a year, and ₹2,400 is the common full-year figure in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and West Bengal. Our source file did not verify state slabs, so enter the amount printed on your payslip.
Does the calculator include my bonus?
Only if you add it to the CTC figure. A performance bonus is usually paid once a year and taxed with the rest of your salary, so spreading it across twelve months overstates a normal month.
Why does my employer contribute ₹1,250 to the pension scheme?
Because the pension share is capped in rupees. EPS takes 8.33% of wages only up to ₹15,000 a month, which is ₹1,250. Everything above that in the employer 12% goes into your EPF account instead.
