Enter any two of speed, distance, and time to get the third. Mix kilometres, miles, hours, and minutes freely, and see the running pace too.
Is this average speed or top speed?
Average. It divides the whole distance by the whole time, so every stop, every traffic light, and every slow stretch is baked in. Your speedometer will read higher than this for most of the journey.
How do I convert km/h to m/s?
Divide by 3.6. So 100 km/h is 27.78 m/s and 36 km/h is exactly 10 m/s. Switch the speed unit on this page and it does the conversion for you.
What is pace and why do runners use it?
Pace is the minutes it takes to cover one kilometre, which is the inverse of speed. Runners use it because it is easier to hold in your head: a 5 minute pace over 10 km is 50 minutes, no arithmetic needed.
How long will my drive take?
Set the mode to time, enter the distance and a realistic average speed, and read the answer. On Indian highways 60 to 70 km/h is a fair average once tolls and towns are counted, even though the limit is higher.
Can I mix miles and kilometres?
Yes. Each field carries its own unit, so you can enter a distance in miles, a time in minutes, and ask for the speed in km/h. The conversions use the exact 1,609.344 metre mile.
Why does the answer change when I change the unit?
It does not - only the way it is written changes. 80 km/h, 22.22 m/s, and 49.71 mph are the same speed. The summary below the answer always shows all three so you can check.
