SIP Calculator

Find what your monthly SIP grows to. Enter the instalment, the expected return, and the number of years. See the maturity value, your gains, and a year by year table.

Is the 12% return guaranteed?

No. Equity mutual funds have no guaranteed return. Indian equity indices have delivered roughly 11% to 13% a year over long periods, but any single year can be deeply negative. Run the numbers at 10% and at 14% to see the range you are planning inside.

What does the step-up option do?

It raises your instalment once a year by the percent you enter. If you start at ₹10,000 with a 10% step-up, year two is ₹11,000 and year three is ₹12,100. Most people get a yearly increment, so a step-up SIP matches real life better than a flat one.

Why is my fund statement different from this number?

Your fund grows at a different rate every month, not a steady one. The NAV on your SIP date, the exit load, and the expense ratio all move the final figure. This calculator shows the shape of the outcome, not the exact rupee.

Should I invest monthly or put in a lump sum?

Monthly, if you are salaried. Most salaried people have monthly cash flow and not a lump sum, which settles the question for them. A SIP also spreads your buying across high and low prices, so a bad entry point hurts less. A lump sum wins when the market rises steadily after you invest.

What happens if I stop the SIP halfway?

The units you already bought stay invested and keep growing. Only the new instalments stop. Set the tenure in this calculator to the number of years you actually paid to see where you would land.

Do I pay tax on the maturity amount?

Yes, on the gains, and each instalment is treated as a separate purchase with its own holding period. Equity fund gains held over a year are long-term capital gains. Check the current rates and the exempt limit before you redeem.
